Pay Verge and charge your phone in two minutes

Voice Life Charges into the Future with Verge Currency (XVG) and VergePAY

Verge is a cryptocurrency focused on enabling quick transactions through its blockchain, hence it’s on the set of crypto payments systems. Payments are powered by its wallet, VergePay. It works on many different devices and you can use it to pay for many different services (you can see them all here!).

How am I gonna charge my phone?

So, what’s all the fuss about charging your phone? According to the announcements made by Verge and its partner Voice Life, you will be able to charge your phone in 2 minutes. This will be possible thanks to the Voice Life technology and will be powered by VergePay transactions.

Is it all legit? Apparently. Verge founder and lead developer Justin Vendetta presented the device along with Robert Smith, from Voice Life, in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in January 2021.

The product is going to be sort of a case made of graphene. It will convert terahertz waves that can be found around us into energy that can be used to charge our batteries.

This whole technology is really new, so I can get why some people are still cautious about it. However, there are published papers on the feasibility of it. I’ll tell you more about it later on.

For now, the basics of this is that you’ll be able to charge your phone in two minutes, using VergePay to fund it. Also, XVG is the only cryptocurrency this system will use, so it’s a pretty good boost to the Verge project.

According to Smith:

The holy grail of blockchain technology is going to be a real time application that extends its utility beyond just improving financial transactions. We believe we are developing that application with Verge.

This application, if possible, is really going to revolutionize the crypto ecosystem and open a wide range of possibilities. Moreover, this puts Verge and blockchain in the spotlight with another state-of-the-art technology. As Justin Vendetta stated, with this partnership Verge has achieved their vision of “creating in a single system a practical use case and a payment process”.

Is it available yet?

As eager as we might all be, this device is not still available for sale and we don’t have an ETA yet. It’s a pretty recent tech and developers have to walk on new roads here. However, it has already been tested and approved, as we could see on the CES presentation. So I don’t think we have to wait much longer until it’s out on stores.

Is it possible?

Voice Life has been working on this for a long time, because they even have two patents registered in the USPTO (you can read them here and here). They were approved in February and August 2020 and stress the importance of blockchain nodes to enable this application.

A study from MIT, published in March 2020, confirms the possibility of turning terahertz waves into usable energy. And graphene has been widely studied as a conducting material for this kind of electromagnetic frequencies.
Although this technology requires the use of satellites, it can work with the ones already orbiting. This means the company won’t need to launch a new one and thus the price of the device won’t be too high either.

Of course, since we don’t have an ETA we have no details on the price either.

What is Verge?

Verge, as I already said, is a cryptocurrency created in 2014, aiming to enable instant payments. It also has a strong focus on privacy features but, instead of using cryptographic measures like other privacy-oriented coins, it works with TOR and I2P to cover your digital footsteps.

These two aims have made XVG a very popular form of payment accepted by many different providers. The project has also gained a lot of attention and there’s a big and strong community around it.

Where can you buy Verge?

XVG is listed in all major cryptocurrency exchanges, like Binance, Bittrex, Huobi Global, Bitfinex, and many more. You have up to 44 different platforms to get or sell your coins.

(IMPORTANT: this is not an investment advice and only you are responsible for your crypto purchases).

Verge attacks

The Verge blockchain has been attacked many times in the last years. A few days ago, another group of hackers attempted to crack the network.
The attackers did a 51% attack, where they reorganized the transactions of the past 200 days. However, Verge developers fixed the issue in a couple of hours and no funds were lost.

The issue did have an impact on XVG price and took it out of the top 100 coins, but it’s still getting value and it might return CoinMarketCap frontpage in no time.

What is Voice Life?

Voice Life, on its part, is a technology company founded in 2015. It’s focused on the development, integration and application of wireless charging solutions. Their main product is the Far Field Wireless Power Charging System (FFWCS for short), which powers the device presented here.
During all its six years of existence, Voice Life has directed all its efforts into making this technology available. And this partnership with Verge is the result of all that work.
